Four Things Every Parent Should Know Before Choosing a Dance Studio
Some things can make a huge difference in the quality of instruction your child receives, the amount of extra work and hassles the parents must deal with, and the overall enjoyment and satisfaction of being involved with a dance program. Consider the following factors before deciding on a dance studio for your child. Dance Floor
We have built a state of the art dance studio. It features a professional, “floating” dance floor. Our floating dance floor rests on a system of high-density foam squares (over 1,000!). A high-density foam base is superior to a “sprung” floor, which usually consists of a wood structure built on a regular, often cement, floor.
The top layer of the dance floor is also important. Our floor is a vinyl composite “marley” floor. This type of floor is accepted worldwide as the best surface layer for recreational and professional dance. A marley dance floor allows dancers to slide, but is not slippery, so there is less risk of slips and falls. Our special floor helps reduce the risk of injuries and allows students to dance longer without getting tired. Class Size
We like to keep our classes small so each student will receive personalized attention. Smaller class sizes make sure that no fundamental concepts are being missed. It also allows our teachers to ensure that students are not developing bad habits or improper technique.
Our studio limits our dance classes (ages 6 and up) to a maximum of 12 students per class; kindergarten dance classes (ages 4-5) to a maximum of 8 students per class; and preschool music & movement (ages 3-5) to a maximum of just 6 students per class. Shows / Performances
Our performances are held either in our on-site performance space, or a local theater—depending on the size of our classes. Our students are never charged a fee to participate in a performance and each family will receive 2 free tickets to any performance held off site.
When a costume is required for a performance, we will order the costumes and ask you for a minimal deposit. If you choose to return the costume (as long as it is clean & usable), your deposit will be refunded. If you choose to keep the costume, we keep your deposit. Immediate Assistance & Customer Service
It is important to choose a studio that can assist you with details like costumes or schedules, even if a teacher is occupied in a class. As with our music teachers, our dance teachers are not bogged down with administrative duties. Their job is to teach and make sure your child is happy and learning new skills. We have an excellent office staff on hand during regular business hours and class times to help you with all your questions. |
